As a mother of three with a husband who has an incredible passion and drive for his career, I’ve always wanted to support my family however I could. I made the choice to stay home with our kids while he pursued opportunities that would provide for us.
When we lived in Texas, especially after our third little one was born, we were fortunate to have family nearby to help whenever we needed it. Having that support made those busy seasons of life so much easier.
Then my husband was offered a career-changing opportunity.
That opportunity meant packing up our lives and moving to North Carolina. It was a leap of faith, but one we knew was worth taking. We fell in love with our life there, yet deep down we always had a feeling it wasn’t our forever home. Another move was likely somewhere in our future.
With each new opportunity came conversations about what was best for our family. We chose for me to continue staying home with our kids while my husband pursued the career opportunities that would provide for our family. It wasn’t always the path I imagined for myself, but it gave me something I wouldn’t trade for the world—more time with my children while they were little.
But like many stay-at-home moms, I wanted something that was mine.
Something that allowed me to contribute financially while still being fully present for my family.
My mind has always been full of ideas. I definitely get that from my dad, who owned a successful business for many years. Growing up around his entrepreneurial mindset taught me to dream big and never be afraid to try something new. At one point I was even convinced I should open a dirty soda and coffee shop!
But knowing another move was likely somewhere in our future, I realized I needed something that could move with me—something I could build no matter where life took our family.
Around that time, I became close friends with an incredible photographer who owned her own business. She was someone who always listened to my crazy ideas without judgment. One day she asked if I’d be willing to help during a few sessions.
From the very first session, everything just clicked.
I wasn’t just there to lend an extra set of hands. I found myself creating behind-the-scenes content that helped grow her business while also capturing meaningful moments for her clients to cherish long after their sessions and wedding days were over.
I loved anticipating what she needed before she even asked. I loved noticing the little details, helping clients feel comfortable, and documenting the moments that often happen in between the posed photos—the laughter, the excitement, the quiet interactions that tell the rest of the story.
Before long, she was asking me to come along more and more. Wedding season rolled around, and suddenly I found myself helping on one of the busiest and most emotional days in people’s lives.
Then one evening it hit me.
I love this.
I love helping photographers.
I love capturing the moments people don’t always notice.
I love interacting with clients and helping them feel comfortable.
I love preserving the little details that often become the biggest memories.
I want to do this.
That was the moment I realized this wasn’t just something I enjoyed—it was something I was meant to build.
KD Kreative Digital was born.
I wanted to help preserve the memories people never want to forget while helping businesses tell the stories that make people remember them. Not through traditional videography, but through authentic, shareable content that captures the in-between moments people often miss. The kind of content that clients can relive for years to come and businesses can instantly share to connect with their audience—all while keeping the experience approachable, accessible, and true to the moment.
Little did I know, deciding to start KD Kreative Digital would happen right in the middle of one of the biggest transitions our family had ever faced. We were preparing to leave the place we’d called home for three years, say goodbye to friends who had become family, and once again pack up our lives into boxes.
I had no idea just how much chaos was about to unfold… but maybe that’s exactly where creativity begins.
A little bit of chaos…
…and a whole lot of creativity.
So welcome to KD Kreative Digital, and welcome to this blog.
This is where I’ll be sharing the journey behind building this business—from moving across states, balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, celebrating wins, learning hard lessons, and everything in between. Whether you’re here to follow my journey, find inspiration for your own, or simply see where this adventure leads, I’m so grateful you’re here.
Next Chapter: The Big Move.
Until next time,
— Katelyn
